Curly wakeup call

“ This is why #My_daughter_will_never_know_relaxers , my love for my curls started since my mom had her own natural Botticelli curls which were the inspiration for starting our own natural curl salon in Dubai.
I was having a mother-daughter relationship, so when I realized that my mom rarely straightened her hair, I couldn’t wait to grow up so I could be freed of the continuous braid protective hairstyle.
Then, I started to feel that being a curly head is part of my own personality until I wanted to try how does it feel to straighten my hair. This phase has been going on util I finally admitted that my reflection in the mirror doesn’t reflect myself from within or without.
I went back to being curly but for some reason, my hair wouldn’t curl anymore as it was dry, frizzy and undefined. I reached a point where I bought every single product available in the Egyptian market from the cheapest to the most expensive and nothing worked. Being utterly frustrated would be an understatement. I started to think that my hair might not be curly after all and that maybe my hormones changed it. So, I went to the opposite extreme where I had my hair relaxed bi-yearly with botox only to go back home and curl it after I bought every kind of curling iron in the market.
My Curly Awakening as I like to call it when someone told me about ‘The Curly Girl Handbook’. As I looked back to what I did to my hair, I realized that nothing I knew about curly hair was right and that was the day my journey started in 2012 :)! “
