The 4 Best Organic Natural Shampoo For All Hair Types

Shampooing your hair every wash day is a given to most people. It has been ingrained in their minds that in order to have clean hair, you need to use shampoo. In most cases, the cleanliness that shampoo brings comes hand in hand with hair dryness, and who would ever like that? Today we discuss 4 natural shampoo alternatives that you can use without fear of drying out your hair.

The 4 Best Tried and Tested Natural Shampoo:

1- Apple Cider Vinegar:

Apple cider vinegar is notorious for its benefits for hair. It helps in dissolving dirt and oils from the scalp and hair, additionally, it is an antibacterial that helps greatly with dandruff. To top off the great package that ACV offers, its acidity also smoothes down hair cuticles for less frizz and more shine after your shower. All you need to do is mix one third of ACV with 2 thirds warm water, then massage it gently onto your wet hair and scalp. Leave it in for 5 minutes then rinse and condition as usual.

2- Sidr powder

Ziziphus or Sidr powder is the dried ground Sidr tree leaves. It is by far our favorite natural shampoo alternative. The Sidr plant has saponins which are pretty much natural soaps, and gentle ones at that. It also has natural waxes that it deposits onto hair while it cleans it, and that extra light waxy layer leaves your hair moisturized and voluminous. Sidr leaves powder is usually mixed with warm water prior to washing your hair, and used just like you would use a shampoo. The one thing you need to take care of is to choose fresh and very finely ground Sidr leaves, otherwise you would have trouble rinsing off your hair properly. We have cut the search route very short for you and sourced organic and finely ground Sidr leaves in our No-Poo Recipe that you can find it below:

3- Shikakai Powder

Shikakai powder is another plant that is high in saponins and used pretty much like you would use Sidr leaves powder, with the difference that it leaves a brown stain if it gets onto clothing or towels, and it could also alter your hair color if you have light-colored hair. Always ask for finely ground Shikakai for an easier usage experience!

4- Amla Powder

Amla is the dried and ground gooseberry fruit, and it works great in cleansing hair gently. You should ideally mix it and let sit overnight and use it the following day, and it should be left on your hair for 15 to 25 minutes.

These simple natural ingredients will truly show you that shampoo isn’t as essential as we think it is, and you don’t need to feel pressure to switch from chemical to natural at once, but you could rather make a gradual switch until all your wash days are natural!
